Revision Guide
June 2004
Advanced
Planning Technologies, Inc. strives to build leading-edge
software with precision drawings. Your drawings are the cornerstone
to accurate reporting and facility management. By keeping all
of your facilities' drawings up-to-date in a timely fashion we
are your partner in creating the best tool in managing your district
every day.
It
is our goal to start with accurate plans immediately, but we realize
that changes are made to buildings and grounds on an as-needed
basis. That's why you have a comprehensive service support agreement
to cover these changes when they need to be made. The guide below
will help you get those changes to us quickly so we can get your
OnRequest Master Project
back in your hands as soon as possible - and you can generate
reports and plans that are meaningful and comprehensive!
Let's
Start with The Overall/Base Plan
There
are several ways a revision can be submitted to APT, depending
on what technology you have available to you and/or your IT department.
No matter how the revisions are submitted, your first step should
always be to print an overall plan of your drawing from OnRequest
and circle the area which requires the change. Every page with
revision you send to APT should have the name of your district,
the building name and the floor level on it. This overall revision
plan can be done on a print out or using Adobe Acrobat
PDF:

Now
we'll see how one can proceed depending on the resources available.
|
| Scenario
One (Best): I have access to a CAD program.
Once
you have made your overall plans for each level, start with the
existing OnRequest
drawing, export the walls and details into a DXF or DWG file,
and make revisions in another application such as AutoCAD.
You may have someone on staff who has talents in the CAD field
or access to a CAD professional in the Architectural sector. Submit
the overall plan in either an Adobe Acrobat
PDF
or a hard copy, the OnRequest
checkout drawing, and your .dwg or .dxf from your drafting program.
This is commonly done with floor plan, roof plan and site plan
revisions at many districts. Please feel free to contact us at
Advanced Planning Technologies, Inc. for how this can save you
and your architects and engineers time.
Scenario
Two: I have blueprints for the revision/addition.
Once you have made your overall plans for each level, locate the
scaled blueprints that correspond to each area which requires
change. Be sure to clearly mark each print that will match up
to your OnRequest
drawing.
Scenario
Three: I only have dimensioned hand drawings for my revision
Once you have made your overall plans for each level, print each
enlarged area of the OnRequest
drawing which requires revision. You can either do this by making
prints from within OnRequest
and marking them up by hand, or by using Adobe Acrobat
and using the drawing tools within the full version:

Scenario
Four: I only have rough drawings with no dimensions, should I
send them anyway?
No. Please go to the site and take field measurements of the area,
and mark-up a print out of your OnRequest
drawing, with accurate dimensions for the best results and quickest
turnaround.

Tips for Marking Up Your Revisions:
-
When you e-mail checked out drawings to APT, please archive
them into one WinZip archive per OnRequest
drawing.
-
Please use the following naming convention when making Win-Zip
archives:
- CO_District_SchoolName_XXXXXX.zip
example: CO_Rosemount_EaganSHSite_061504.zip
- When
APT returns the drawing it would be called: CO_Rosemount_EaganSHSite_061504_out.zip

| SITE
PLANS: The
above rules apply for Site Plan revisions as well. The most critical
is the overall plan, but the same rules in general apply, in addition
to these guidelines:
1.
When indicating a change, show measurements for the changes in
surface.
2. When field verifying roads and parking lots, indicate which
side of the curb you are measuring to and from. Be consistent
throughout the entire set of revisions.
3. When removing an item, show what will be replacing that space,
i.e. ground cover. Walks, etc.
