  • Using the Stylizer

OnRequest™ Stylizer

The OnRequest™ stylizer is a function created to allow temporary changes to background and foreground colors of objects. This feature is very useful for presenting graphical information in settings that utilize legends. Examples are: use of space, age of building sections, air exchange information per room, etc. The instructions below will help introduce you to this powerful tool. The examples utilize the stylizer record that was created for this purpose, but stylizers can be created from any single attached record (only one allowed per object).

Steps to create a simple stylizer:

  1. Attach the stylizer record to the object to be stylized
  2. Enter data into the field to be used in the stylizer record
  3. Create a stylizer from the Data pull-down menu

NOTE: The charts depicting color numbers, patterns etc. are found on the "Miscellaneous" drawing in your Master Project. "Bright red", for example, is color number 14 in the chart.

Step one:
Attach the stylizer record.

Step two:
Enter the data. In this example, I have entered "area A" into field one of the first object I want to stylize.

Then, I entered "area b" into filed one of the stylizer record attached to the second object I want to stylize.

Step three:

The Stylizer expression for a solid fill of the space region is entered in the form:

'Record name'.'Field name' DECODE ("query 1":FILLBACKCOLOR (color #), "query 2":FILLBACKCOLOR (color #), ASIS)

For the data we have just entered, the expression is:

'Stylizer Record'.'Field 01' Decode ["area A":FillBackColor[14], "area B": FillBackColor[73]. Asis]

To read this expression in ordinary English it would say - Look in filed 01 of the Stylizer record. Decode what is found there as follows: if "area A" is found, fill the background with color number 14; if "area B" is found, fill the background with color number 73. Leave everything else as is.

Adding a little complexity:

The Stylizer expression for a solid fill with a pattern added applied to the space region is entered in the form:

'Record name'.'Field name' DECODE ("query 1":FILLBACKCOLOR (color #) + FILLFORECOLOR (color #) + PATTERNO (patern #), "query 2":FILLBACKCOLOR (color #) + FILLFORECOLOR (color #) + PATTERNO (patern #), ASIS)

The background color is the space region color and the foreground color is the color of the pattern stripe.
