Advanced Planning Technologies, Inc. has chosen to implement the powerful, open-source software application, openoffice.org, to view, edit and export your archival materials.

Openoffice.org's Draw application will give you the capability to view your drawings as they have been archived, make mark-ups and note instructions, print for staff, and lastly, export to the common PDF format to deliver to architects, engineers and contractors. OpenOffice.org's Draw tools are unparalleled- they are easy to use and far more extensive than what Adobe Acrobat offers. Your district can hold literally hundreds of openoffice.org's licenses without additional cost. Why pay for a plan viewer / markup application when you can get an excellent one for FREE? Sun Microsystems has agreed to committ resources to assist the open source development community with this project. This free office tool environment can only get better with time. This plan viewer / markup tool will be an integreated component of NetRequest™.

Your PlanRequest™ project begins with the gathering of all paper documents - those that are sensitive to water, temperature, and most importantly, TIME. Most districts have thousands of sheets of prints - some devote entire rooms to blueprint storage. When disaster strikes, you may be in danger of losing the rolls of original blueprints that contain information not found anywhere else. While for most districts, scanning, organizing and archiving blueprints seems like a monumental task, our years of CAFM and technical information management experience at APT can handle the task. PlanRequest™ is more affordable than you think, and at a time when budgets are tight (= man hours) it's worth looking at APT. PlanRequest™ can be customized to run on read-only DVD or CDR, or we can install your project on your local intranet to preserve confidentiality and restrict access as you feel necessary.
