OnRequest™ Support: Tutorial: Piloting OnRequest™

Stack Windows

Stack Windows is used to re-align the windows for all the open drawings on the main monitor. Stack Windows also moves the tool palette and any open dialogs to their default positions on the main monitor. This is found under the Windows menu.

Zoom Tools

Zoom In and Out - Zoom 2x and Zoom ½ x changes the magnification from the center of the drawing window.

Zoom 2x increases the drawing window by a multiple of two (2).

Zoom ½ x decreases the drawing window by a multiple of two (2).

Zoom Home - Home view changes the view so that the entire drawing is displayed in the drawing window.

View pull-down menu

Previous View returns the drawing to its previous view. OnRequest tracks two views of a drawing and actively remembers the current view and the view that appeared before a zoom.

View % has a sub menu that provides additional zoom ranges. Select any one of these options and OnRequest zooms in or out accordingly.

Paper scale view positions the view for the Print Window feature.

Creating a Named View - OnRequest allows the user to give names to specific views. A view is that portion of a drawing currently visible on the screen. Go to a named view simply by selecting it from the View pull-down menu. View names are listed alphabetically.

Moving the Drawing

There are three ways to move the drawing in the drawing window:
Using the Scroll Feature - Scroll drawing by using the scroll bars located at the bottom and on the right of the screen

Using the “Hand” Option - Pan the drawing by holding down Control + Space Bar (for Windows users) or the Option key (for Mac users), and dragging the drawing to your desired direction.

NOTE: OnRequest has a “dockable” or floating tool palette that can be searched to the desired shape. The palette can be docked to the top or sides of the window. For training purposes, use a floating vertical design.

The variable zoom tool may be used to zoom to a chosen area of the drawing. Select the zoom tool from the tool palette. The cursor will change to a + shape. Click once with the left mouse button, release and drag the mouse to enclose the area to be viewed. Click again with the left mouse button to zoom to the area selected.

Selecting to View Data

Select Tool

Selecting objects in OnRequest is similar to other programs using the familiar point and click method. Selecting objects is like making menu selections; that is, you hold down the mouse button and click on an object (you must click on the edge of the object). OnRequest will flash the object and the object will be highlighted to show that it has been selected.

The Select Tool

With the select tool, position the tool close to the edge of the object to be selected. Click and hold down the left mouse button. The cursor will change to a small circle. Position the cursor at the edge of the object to be selected. The object or its outline will highlight. Release the left mouse button to select the highlighted object.

Select pull-down menu

The select pull-down menu allows flipping between the current and last selection, select all and clear all. When Add or Remove to/from Selection is chosen, the operator may make multiple selections or de-selections. Hold down the shift key to accomplish the same Add or Remove from selection.
